Advocacy for reforms on the Immigration Bill:
Objective :
The primary rationale of this project is to raise awareness of the presence of persons of concern and their situation in Nepal among concerned stakeholders. Our advocacy is directed towards sensitizing and persuading the relevant organs of the Government of Nepal to work towards understanding the state’s obligation for protection so that the presence of persons of concern in Nepal will be fairly noted in the new immigration law. Additionally, our engagement is to lobby to enshrine a provision in the Immigration Bill to exempt persons of concern from the lofty immigration penalties and to integrate the principle of non-refoulment into the new immigration Bill. Along with advocacy work, INHURED's legal clinic provides legal assistance to the refugee community in Nepal.
